Finding Purpose: Here’s How to Get More Out of Life at Any Age

Are you having difficulty finding meaning in life? Do you feel as if your daily grind is devoid of purpose?

You’re not alone. Many of us struggle to find a higher purpose, or any purpose at all. It’s all we can do just to get by.

Fortunately, people who have found meaning in the everyday are all around us, if we know where to look. Using their example, we can look inside ourselves and discover new ways to make the most of our time here on earth.

Ready to make a change? Consider these nine strategies to get more out of life at any age, no matter who you are or where you come from.

    1. Find a “Passion Project”

What are you passionate about? Really, truly passionate about?

For many people, the honest answer is “nothing.” Right now, anyway. Just because you’re not “into” anything at the moment doesn’t mean you can’t discover a new calling in life at any moment.

To spark that discovery, look for “passion projects” that you actually want to pursue. Usually, these projects leverage existing skills that you know you have but don’t use every day. Or interests that dropped off your radar sometime in the past, perhaps a subject you tried but never really pursued in college or a job you had that didn’t turn into a career.

    2. Join or Start a Movement That Speaks to You

Many passion projects don’t turn into social movements or larger organizations. But some do. That’s where V1 Church founder Mike Signorelli, a former atheist who found faith as an adult, found himself after his spiritual transformation. Answering a calling that only he could hear, he relocated halfway across the country and started one of the fastest-growing faith organizations in the New York City area.

Whether you start the next V1 Church or you join a like-minded movement that speaks to you, following in Signorelli’s footsteps could be the most important step on your faith journey.

    3. Reconnect With Old Friends

In the age of social media, reconnecting with old friends shouldn’t be awkward or creepy. It should be a wholesome, low-pressure experience that enriches our lives and helps us find meaning in the everyday. Soon enough, your “new” old friends could form the core of a vibrant group that celebrates faith or gives back to the community (or both). Buy Rdp easily from reliable source.

    4. Participate in Informal Groups and Gatherings in Your Community (or Virtually)

Book club, anyone? Informal groups and gatherings of friends and acquaintances are wonderful tools for connection and purpose. Whatever your interests, it’s certain that some of your neighbors (who can live anywhere thanks to the magic of the Internet) share them.

    5. Give Back to a Cause You Care About

Sadly, the world needs generosity more than ever these days. Surely you can find it in your heart (and your wallet or cupboard) to donate your time or resources to a cause that you care about? Acts as simple as topping up your local food bank or spending time with the elderly can bring meaning and joy to our lives.

    6. Rediscover Your Love for the Natural World — or Discover It for the Very First Time

No need to reinvent yourself as a daring mountaineer. A simple stroll or sit in your neighborhood park will do. Learn to appreciate the dazzling beauty and variety of the natural world and you’ll be rewarded for your curiosity.

    7. Become a Mentor to Younger Colleagues and Neighbors

Your experiences are more valuable than all the money in the world. Share them with members of the next generation (and anyone more junior than you, professionally speaking) and with any neighbors whose experiences differ from your own — which is literally everyone, come to think of it.

    8. Set Goals for the Coming Year and Make a Plan to Reach Them

What these goals are is not so important. What matters is setting them and making a plan to reach them — a plan that you can actually keep. Your goals should center on projects you’ve always wanted to complete but never felt you had the time. If not now, when?

How Do You Find Meaning in Life?

Finding meaning in life isn’t exactly easy. The path of least resistance is to continue slogging along in a daze.

It’s not impossible, either. We’ve just seen nine ways to get more out of life that just about anyone can try. Now that you’ve had a chance to learn about them, it’s time to find your higher purpose.
