With so many streaming services, and so many different shows available to watch, it can sometimes be hard to know what to choose. In fact, it can be overwhelming at times, and very easy to spend more time looking for a show to watch than watching an actual show.
While finding the right entertainment for the evening can sometimes feel like a struggle when there is so much to choose from, the good news is that if you’re a comic book fan, there’s a new series that you won’t have to deliberate about watching. If you like comic books and comic book characters and are looking for something new to view, then you might just want to give Stargirl a try.
It’s a New Series
Executive produced by Geoff Johns Stargirl is an exciting new series available to watch on The CW. It follows the life of Courtney Whitmore, a high school sophomore living in LA. She becomes a superhero when she discovers the Cosmic Staff.
After she discovers the Cosmic Staff, she then goes on to become a part of a new group of superheroes called the Justice Society of America, who spend their time fighting villains from the past. Another important character in the series Stargirl is that of her stepfather, who happens to have his own superhero past and who is part of what inspires her to embark on her own superhero journey.
It’s Based On Courtney Whitmore
Like many other superhero movies and TV shows, Stargirl’s character and story has a basis in comic books. The character Courtney Whitmore appears in multiple comic books, but can primarily be found in the JSA back issue comics, also known as the Justice Society of America comics.
Her first-ever appearance in a comic book is in Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. #0 which came out in July 1999. Originally, Courtney Whitmore went by the superhero name Star-Spangled Kid, but she ended up changing her name to Stargirl after she was presented with the Cosmic Staff by Jack Knight.
It’s Got Some Familiar Faces
Something else that makes Stargirl exciting is that the series contains some familiar faces that you have likely seen in other movies and shows. The star of Stargirl, Brec Bassinger has previously appeared in shows like Bella and the Bulldogs, and more recently the movie 47 Meters Down: Uncaged.
Another familiar face featured in the show Stargirl is that of Luke Wilson, who plays the role of her stepfather. Luke Wilson has been in a wide range of movies and shows since he began acting in 1994. Some of his more popular recent roles include Lance in The Swing of Things, and Albuquerque in Zombieland: Doubletap.
While it may not always be easy to make up your mind about to watch, the good news is that there is a new option. Whether you are a diehard comic book fan, or have never read one in your life, Stargirl can be an interesting option if you are looking for something new to watch.
