Are you having trouble with leaking pipes? If so, don’t worry, you have come to the right place! Leaky pipes cause havoc around the world all the time, so you’re not alone.

In Australia alone, plumbers are in hot demand because leaky pipes issues never seem to end. Luckily, if you need help with leaky pipes, there are professionals around to help you out. For now, take a look at this article for all the things you need to know when it comes to leaky pipes.

    How to Find Water Leaks

The stress ends here. By reading this article, you will find out how to confirm whether or not you have a water leak that needs fixing. If you’re not sure, it is better to call a plumber and be safe rather than sorry.

Finding Water Leaks Without a Water Meter

There are plenty of ways to find out if your pipes may be leaking. While some may put it down to a leaky faucet or leaky toilet, some leaks go beyond that. Here are some things to look and listen for when worried about a leaky pipe:

    • Random warm spots under your concrete floor
    • Water running even when no water is running
    • A large spike in your water bills
    • A change in your water meter when water isn’t being used
    • Wet spots on your walls or floors for no reason
    • Bad smells within your home or outside

While it may be hard to notice at first, seeing discoloured flooring around your shower or bath could be your culprit. A good way to see if your bath or shower is your issue, just splash a small amount of water on the seams.

This is an easy fix. However, for more severe leaks you will need to call a plumber.

Finding Water Leaks with a Water Meter

It gets a bit easier when you look for leaks with your water meter. They cannot directly pinpoint where the leak is. However, it is still helpful to have the indication of whether or not the leak actually exists.

Here is a little guide to help you detect a leak with your water meter:

    1. Find your water meter and write down the reading
    2. Don’t use your water for a few hours
    3. Head to your water meter again and see if any water has been used

If your reading has gone up despite water not being used, this could definitely indicate that you have a leak somewhere. If you don’t notice it inside or outside your house, it is likely that your leak could be underground.

But don’t worry, a licensed plumber can help you out. They are also qualified to help you.

    How to Fix a Leak

When stressed, it can be enticing to try to fix your plumbing issue yourself. However, this is the last thing you should do. Usually, fixing it yourself only causes more issues which make you spend more money later on.

Fix the issue once and for all with a good plumber by your side.

    The Bottom Line

If you have a leaky pipe that you’re worried about, don’t panic. Instead, call your nearest plumber to help you fix the issue.
