ASO or Antistreptolysin O (ASO)  test is a blood test that evaluates a strep infection. When you come into contact with dangerous bacteria, your body generates antibodies to defend itself against these bacteria. Your body generates antibodies specific to the bacteria they combat.

This titer test measures antibodies produced by your body in reply to a toxin called streptolysin O. Streptolysin O is a toxin generated by group A Streptococcus (GAS) bacterium. Here, your body produces the antistreptolysin O antibodies when you experience a strep infection triggered by GAS bacteria.
